Carrie and I lived across the country from each other, but in 2003 a photography forum brought us together. We quickly realized how much we had in common, especially our love of newborn baby forms. We met in person for the first time in May 2005, in San Diego, California. It was then that we photographed our first newborn together.  One year later, we met in person again. This time, to welcome Carrie’s fourth child, Lily. Recording Lily’s first two weeks of life escalated our passion of photographing newborns even further.

In early 2008, at the age of 21, I moved to southern California to team up with Carrie, and the partnership “Baby as Art” was formed. During that time, Baby as Art’s worldwide acclaim grew substantially. We photographed numerous celebrities and their babies including P!nk, Ziggy Marley, and Jeff Gordon. Our work was featured in People, In Touch, Us Weekly, Who, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and on Entertainment Tonight. Over the past eight years, Baby as art has also been published in several well-known photography magazines including The Professional Photographer and Digital Photographer. We were also chosen to speak at the 2010 WPPI convention with Asuka Book, and in 2011, we spoke at Imaging in the keynote Ignition presentation. Since 2008, we have taught newborn photography to well over a thousand photographers from around the world. Our workshops have taken place across the United Sates, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia.

We take pride in constantly pushing the envelope by finding inspiration within and through each individual baby.  With Carrie’s unique ideas and my attention to detail, we are quite a dynamic pair. Over the years, we have been defined by the children’s photographer community as trend setters and “THE definitive modern baby photographers.”

Though we currently live on separate sides of the country, we still take time to get together and photograph babies. In 2014, we completed our final workshop together after six years of teaching!
